sluggish start up

This problem has started out of no where and isn't too much of a concern, but I'm interested in what the rest of you think and if anyone's experienced it before. The outside temp and humidity hasn't changed and it doesn't seem to be performing any differently. When I start the car up, starting about three or four days ago, it's just really sluggish. It will turn over and start just fine but at a really low rpm like it's asking to be pumped. After a second it will come up and be at where it should be idling. It's a slow rpm at first, but smooth. So the car doesn't shake or shutter or anything.

Haha ok so I at first I questioned the battery thing but I've realised that it does it more intensely when the car is totally cold soooooo that might back up the battery theory. Just out of curiosity, I can't make sense of how a battery would cause this sort of issue. Elaborate?

How old is your battery? Original from 2008? Simply put it doesn't hold a charge to maximum capacity, it's getting weak....................it's dying!!! lol

I have no idea how old the battery is but I'm fairly certain it has been replaced.... though if not then now would definitely be the time it would die. I've just never heard of a battery causing this issue, that's why its hard for me to make the connection between the two.

I would have to agree with everyone else. I had the exact same issue as you last week. Put in a new battery. Problem went away!

Is there a way to test the battery theory. Like if I jumped it should it not be present for that start?

I'm down in San Antonio. Texas summers are brutal on batteries. You can try connecting it to another vehicle and see if that helps, but it's easier to go by AutoZone, Pep Boys or Walmart and have them test it for you. It's free and only takes a minute.

So I brought it to a shop and of the course the morning before I did, the problem went away. No change in weather or anything. Still brought it to the shop and the battery checked out fine. The starter was making a little noise but it checked out fine as well. Sooooo as of now, I'm just sitting tight and acting like that was all a bad dream.
