When you switch on your small lights, the pic of the foglight will light up.
When you switch on your headlights, the square will light up
When you didnt switch on any of your lights, there wont be any lights on the switch

Ive DIY mine foglights on my Yaris.

So when you depress the button, the fog lights turn on and the green rectangle lights up?

when i depress the button without turning my light switch, the switch nor the foglights light up
Ive connected the switch to my parking light (small headlights) which means if i were to on my foglights i need to on my parking lights .. you can even change the switch to other kinds of switch like the one i did for my interior neons ..

For my Ebay OEM fog lights, there is always a dim green glow on the switch as long as the car is turned on. When the lights are turned ON, the green glow gets brighter and the tiny rectangle above the fog light symbol glows as well.

I know for sure one light is brighter than the other, not because of my camera, it's really obvious by eye at night.. it irritates me but I don't necessaryily want to go back to that guy to ask what happened. Maybe the one bulb was faulty, wasn't on tight, or wiring? Or maybe cuz they're cheap bulbs and I need to buy some HID's. Really, I turned them on at nighttime and currently those bulbs don't do much (no, it wasn't foggy but in my previous cars they also worked well as extra lighting at night). For now, it's just for looks and I don't turn them on- I just hated seeing those black plastic covering over the 'holes'.

Thanks.

Have the installer take a look. It's possible that the one bulb isn't installed correctly and is just sort of hanging in there - it wouldn't be waterproof.

if you are using the above foglight kit, check if the green wire is connected to the parking lights wire. It should be green in colour.

Step by step guide to install a foglamp kit

Full Kit

The switch

Two sets of harness

White molex connector connect to 2nd set of molex connector
C shape clip connect to ground (Chassis)
2 Black holders for H11 bulbs

Green wire to parking light wire which can be found just behind your headlight assy.
Blue wire to Batt
Black connector to relay
White molex connector connect to 1st set of molex connector
Green connector connect to the switch on your dash

The Relay

For the switch wire, you need to cut a hole on a rubber seal which is available on your firewall (your firewall should have 2 rubber seals) to pull the switch wire to your dash. Do this before connecting the switch.

Please take note that you are to cut a hole just enough for the wire to go through and not too big. If you cut a big hole, you will end up getting more engine noise in the cabin.

Also take note that the batt wire will be the last thing to connect.
After fixing on every connection, do a test on the foglamp to see if it's working before you put the bumper back so as to save time troubleshooting should there be any problem.

If anyone need more explaination feel free to PM me.

Any chance for a more detailed step-by-step breakdown of the install? Perhaps with pictures to explain what you mean? Some of the language seems a little unclear.
