Yaris seat lowering question (or two)

First off, hi guys.

I have a 2012 Yaris hatchback, 5 speed, the absolute base car that has recently been demoted from family DD duties. Without going thru everything that I have done and want to do, I would like to concentrate in this post here on lighter front seats and lowering the driving position.

What are some aftermarket seats that are also comfortable as well as light? I know there are lightweight racing seats out there, these will need to be comfortable, reasonably comfortable for, say 200 mile trips. They also need to be able to be easy to get in and out of, so no racing seats. And they need to be lower than the stock seats, which most of them seem to be. But, when the mounting brackets are factored in, it then seems that they end up the same height as stock or higher even.

Has anyone out there put lighter seats in and also lowered the driving position? Can this be done with any of the available seat mounting brackets that are out there or should I plan on either fabbing something up from scratch or modifying stock brackets?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated, I am on a steep learning curve with these very underappreciated cars. In advance, thanks everybody!

"if" you find an answer im all ears
but heres the thing, 1 your going to have airbag issues due to the seat sensors..so be prepared

what i do know from digging is that brz frs are allegedly a neer bolt in and lower, i belive so are the TC,with the tc being taller and heavier than the brz/frs by how much i dont know....ive not been able to lay hands on the brz/frs..but have been eyeballin the TC seats for a while now

fwiw im 6'4 and would LOVE to drop the seats a few inches..in reality there is less drop space than you think due to the layout of the floor pan

I hear you, there is not much info on this subject out there, believe me I have searched. I have talked to a couple of the major aftermarket seat manufactures as well as the one or two makers of mounting brackets for these cars. The consensus seems to be that generally the seats will actually end up sitting higher then stock, or at best the same height.

I don't care about the airbags, I have a very nice Max Papis steering wheel that will be on next week. The steering wheel will be lighter than stock. Different seats will shave a fair amount of weight off as well. Making the car more nimble is the best thing that you can do if you are really worried about crashing, (not to mention more fun to drive)!

I can weld and fab reasonably well, what I think I am going to do is get a pair of Corbeau's or something equivalent, easy to get in and out of and that won't break the bank too bad, then get a destroyed pair of Yaris seats and modify/make as needed to get the new seats mounted in a lower position.

not sure if the 2nd and 3rd gens seat brackets are the same, but you will need aftermarket seat brackets and sliders/side mounts to mount any aftermarket seat.
