Exhaust Noise leak

Hi, I was wondering if you could help me understand what my auto repair shop did to my Yaris with 135K miles. I've had this exhaust noise leak towards the front of my car for about 6 months. I decided to take it to my local repair shop and they said it would be 1.5 hours labor for a repair and weld. I attached pictures for you to see what they did. I don't think this did any welding since I check the whole exhaust from front of the car to the rear. They said they did some work towards the front of the car. Please let me know your thoughts. It looks like they replaced some springs in the joint between the header exhaust and the catalytic converter piece? By the way, the noise is gone since they repaired it.
Thanks,
Vinny

Looks like they welded the manifold where it goes from 4 - 1! But what difference does it make? They repaired it obviously since you say the noise is gone.

My guess is that they changed the gasket as well as the bolts and springs. Part #6 in your parts picture.

The gasket is what generally goes and causes the noise.

As for the welding, I don't see any but they may have had to strengthen the flange that the blots pass through.
