Try turning your gain down. Also, double check all grounds, make sure they are solid, maybe even ground the amp multiple places. When possible, don't wire the power and input wires together from the front to back of the car. You could be picking up an alternator whine, power wires can put out a magnetic field that your input wires pick up as an extra noise...

does it whine when your iPod is not connected?

if it does, make sure your ground is well grounded (all the paint should be off). and like someone said, run the power cable on one side of the car and the speaker wires on the other. i'm running my power cable on my left side and the speaker wires on the right.

What amp/s do you have... some amps do no have line level converters on them, this might be the cause of noise.

The amp/s have to recieve the audio signal at a low frequency, hence a Hi to lo level converter would be the best option, not to mention its advantages with stock headunits.

The installer told lowered the sound. Note that im running the stock head unit and it (according to them) would sound better using an aftermarket using that connects to front, rear and sub.

The middle man between head unit and amp is the problem of hte noise.
Its okay, i'll buy a head unit this friday at circuit city or something...i just a it fixed or w/e...other than that its pretty good.

im just looking for a head unit that plays u know..wmv, mp3 aac if u will but rarely nowdays. satellite ready and ipod ready. and maybe with a cool background visualizer

Alpine, Pioneer, and some Kenwoods have all those features. Sony has some nice backgrounds, but those are on their top-end stuff.
