for those that came w/ 14's

for those of us who's yaris came w/ 14's from the factory w/ 175-65-14 tires....it would seem as though the speedo is calibrated for 185-60-15 sizing...

i say this as i was driving w/ friends w/ oem-sized wheels and gps, and since we had radio's, i could ask what speed they were going.

it would seem that w/ 195-50-15 tires, my speedo was off by about 4km/h

that would lead me to believe that despite the fact that my car came with 175-65-14 tires, my speedo is calibrated for 185-60-15

just food for thought next time you're buying tires for your yaris

Hmph. Is there a way to see what is actually programmed in the ECU (or wherever this info is stored)? This would be really annoying to have to fix in my fuel economy spreadsheet lol.

This is interesting info, I try to keep the diameter as close to stock as possible, otherwise your data is off and it can affect your gas milage as well.

I wonder if they ran the EPA MPG test on 14"s or 15's ?

That's odd.. my Yaris comes with 185/60R15, but when my speedo reads 60km/h, the GPS reads ~57-58km/h.. Maybe my speedo is off, either that or my GPS is not accurate.
