Is talk to text artificial intelligence? And is that the same thing as self driving cars? If so that's not good news for self driving cars!

Wondering if it's better depending on language setting.

Maybe it would! Could you explain more about it? I'm pretty ignorant of such matters.

Well you know how much of an accent people from different part of the world have despite speaking the same language ? Just like the voice guiding on the gps that sounds like it's been recorded in a country where they don't even speak that language

I try to speak slowly and carefully like my doctors does on his iPad but it's pretty hit and miss despite that. I went into settings under general and then language but didn't see anything I could alter that might help.

It's over 200 000

The thought of a talk to text manual car transmission is somewhat hilarious.

Congrats! Gotta love mileage milestones...

As for speech to text, I love it. As an Android user from the very beginning, I've seen Google's voice recognition come a looong way. For the last several years, I pretty much do everything on my phone by voice.

"Okay, Google, call mom"
"Okay, Google, navigate to XYZ"
"Okay, Google, show me pictures of the new GRMN Yaris"
"Okay, Google, how many micro-grams are in a milligram?"
"Okay, Google, when was company/team founded?"
"Okay, Google, remind me to turn off the water in 15 minutes"

...and so on.

It all works flawlessly. It even picks up names and slang words. I find the best approach is to just speak normally to it. Most people have the tendency to get loud, put the phone right up to their mouth, and/or speak more slowly (as you mentioned, bronsin) than they normally would, not realizing that most of these systems have been optimized to recognize natural speak patterns in a variety of dialects, accents and languages.

Just my 2 cents; YMMV.

What about mute or voice impaired drivers ? Is there some sort of sign language recognition camera software so they can also be using self-driven car technology ?

What about a Braille dashboard for the visually impaired ? Or guide dog co-pilot ?
