Exclamation Having trouble fitting the engine air filter

I checked my air filter today under my hood, it looks like it was forced into it. There are 3 rounded corners and one 90 degrees corner in this filter. The 90 degrees corner got "pancaked" or flatted. I changed the factory air filter 4 months ago, and did not pay much attention. I feel like the parts guy at the dealer gave me the wrong filter? Is your filter rounded on four corners???

They all have one 90 degree corner.

There are also indexing areas on the underside of the filters (along the longer lengths) that will guide you in the correct way to insert it.
Match them up with the lower half of the airbox.

No, there are rounded corners(at least in my 07 sedan)....

I was thinking since that 90 degree corner is getting "pancaked" or flatted, if i cut that corner into rounded corner like other 3 corners...What does your air filter looks like?

Also there are parts number on the air filter, i am pretty sure that's facing in.

Make sure it's not upside down.
I believe the Parts # should be facing front and on top

Where was the 90 degree corner oriented? Don't cut anything. If the air filter is damaged or incorrect in any way, can it and get a new one. The air filter is one of the most critical parts of the vehicle.

The 90 degree non rounded corner should be toward the firewall and to the left if you are facing the front of the car.

Opps, you are right, the Parts # are facing up and at the bottom.

To RD2D: The 90 degree corner is placed top left(right next to the battery and the pipe that connects into the engine), top right corner is rounded and the two corners below are rounded also(they fit perfectly).

I believe i am over-thinking about this lol.. but why is the 90 degree corner getting flatted?

I have a similar problem. I cant get my airbox to latch wuth the filter in. The metal latch facing the front is short of being able to slide over the groove. I triep pulling on it with pliers didn't help. I have been running with one latch off. Anyone else have hard time getting airbox closed?

I don't have problem closing those 2 clips. Maybe i forced it.

Anyways i am going to the dealer tomorrow(Halloween Sale! 25% off) to buy another air filter, i hope the unit is still in good shape, hope i didn't move them too far apart.

The non rounded corner makes the filter only fit one way in my 08 hatchback.

If you stand in front of the headlights(look at the pic), the non rounded corner is placed towards the battery, on the left side, and under the pipe that connects to the engine. Correct?

The other 3 rounded corners are either on the top right or at the bottom towards the headlights.
