xD 48.1 mpg average

Kinda-sorta, for a 22 mile trip. That was after my first fill-up and starting the xD's ecometer off at 0.00 average. Should drop a lot by the time I get to a 1/4 tank and do my first official mpg average when I re-fill; took ownership of xD during mid-tank so 1st fill-up didn't count. I figure I'll get somewhere around 38-39 mpg...pretty good trade-off from the 42ish I was used to seeing in my 5-speed 3-dr Yaris.

It crazy how the bigger 1.8 gets better fuel efficiency than the 1.5.

Are there any Yaris TS owners with the 1.8 that can chime in on their fuel economy?

Actually, for me, I expect to get nearly 5mpg less w/ the 1.8/automatic xD vs. my 1.5/manual Yaris...I almost always saw 40-44 mpg for the 2 yrs that I owned the Yaris, but I figure I'll be lucky to hit 39 mpg in the xD, but I suuuuure am getting used to the idea of a nice automatic transmission w/ all the amenities that came with it, in the short time I've owned the Scion.

Yeah, but the xD is a bigger (and heavier) car than the Yaris right?

I was wondering about Yaris to Yaris TS. I know the new Corolla's get only slightly less milage than my car, but are much heavier.

Maybe it's just my driving habbits. Sometime I'm balls to the walls and others I'm hypermiling LOL.

Don't know about the Corolla, but iirc my 3 door Yaris was a little over 2300 lbs and the xD is a little over 2600 lbs

Just checked, Corolla is a little over 2800 lbs

Ended up getting 38.6 mpg in the xD. Not bad, all things considered.

And after driving the xD for a couple of weeks I've decided to keep the Yaris and give up the xD. I might be nuts but I think I like the stripped down Yaris better than the xD with all its options.

it's crazy how the 1.5 seems to get better mileage than the 1.3... even driving with a feather foot for most of the tank most I've ever gotten is about 47... kmpg, which is about 30mpg

Smile

There's so much difference in individuals' driving habits and their local driving conditions that it's pretty hard to make meaningful comparisons in mileage from experience.
