Sunday highway trip mpg's

On Sunday we drove 273.10 miles, refilled with 7 gallons. average mpg= 39 (this is with cruise set at 65-70, the a/c on the whole time, 2 large suitcases.)

On the way there, I was carrying an extra 250 pounds in the car, plus stop and go thru the city, a side stop drop off, and hills along the way. average mpg 31.

Not bad, but with a more relaxed driving style, synthetic oil and 35psi in the tires you should be in the mid to high 40mpg.

that might be optimistic....I have trouble getting anything over 40mpg for long trips if I'm doing 60+mph the whole time.

If you want better mpg on the highway, slow down, turnoff the air, inflate your tires higher.

I'm too lazy to actually compute my gas mileage so i rely on the Scangauge and it tells me i'm averaging up to 47mpg on a long road trip.

If you have a cell phone, it's pretty easy. Fill the tank. Read the trip meter. Open the calculator on the cell phone. Type in the miles. Type in the gallons. Divide.
