car key left in accessory position

thanks yarisworld and those who post for giving yaris (vios) owners a venue for learning and discovering stuff.

does leaving the key in the accessory position drain the battery? i have found my battery discharged after leaving the key in the accessory position
for a couple of days.

thanks.

that will be running battery power to the stereo, which will use a little power even when the stereo itself is off... so, yes

Why would you want to do that?

which means it drains power when the accessory is OFF too..

because the radio has constant power to keep it's memory.

if the radio is off it's not what's draining your battery. it's all the ACC relays that are ON that's doing it.

The radio just gets a standby voltage when in OFF, but is actually full powered in ACC and ON?

Anyway yes, whatever ACCessories are juiced up in ACC mode will obviously drain the battery...

Yes the ACC position powers your stereo, and and a few other circuits are live. Been there, done that had the battery drained so much that the car would crank slowly but not start cause the voltage must have been low enough that the fuel ejectors don't function. my jump pack took care of it. Ron

My wife's long had a habit of doing that when it's shut in the garage, because she can't keep up with the key.

i leave the keys in the ignition when the car is parked securely in the garage. makes it easier to just hop in, start the engine and go. normally, it would be in the OFF position, but sometimes I'd listen to the radio and forget to turn the key to the OFF
position again.

again, thanks for all the replies.

better to turn your car off than replacing the battery every week..
