2007 fuel filter

my 07 with 345K is showing signs that the filter is plugged. Has anyone found an easy way to swap out the fuel Filter???

Remove the rear seat, pop the fuel access cover, disconnect the connector, the fuel line, and the vent line from the top of the tank, unscrew the top of the tank (special spanner tool required), lift the sender unit out, remove the fuel pump assembly from the sender, unclip the filter from the bottom, and clip on the new one.

I have seen that metal plate back there and it is spotwelded on....

No. It is glued on with a black super sticky glue. You simply pry it up and then stick it back down when you are done.

ah ha you wouldnt happen to know the dimension of the spanner would you??

I never measured it while I was in there, but this is what it looks like and what the Toyota SST looks like:
