Drivers door window controls coming loose

08 Sedan..When i use one of the controls on the drivers door arm rest the whole unit seems to be coming loose, when i press down on a window control all the control switches move about a half inch, How do i get the piece of plastic off to see whats come loose underneath.Or is this best left to the dealer to fix?
Looks almost identical to this unit.

The whole assembly can be pulled off. There are plastic clips that keep it in place.

I get nervous with plastic clips as they have a tendency to break making reassembly impossible..

Apart from the instrument cluster, I did not break any of the non replaceable clips up to now ;)

Understood. The ones for the window controls are the type that don't tend to break, but the fact that yours is not latched in place kind of says that something under there is already broken.

Took it apart no problems. and discovered the plastic shaft that the power unit screws into is broken. I guess my options are an entire new plastic molding or just live with somewhat loose buttons for window operation.
Wonder what one of those plastic pieces cost.

How is the plastic molding marked? (too lazy to take mine apart now :P )
If it's PE or PP, you could take a lighter or soldering iron and try to weld it together again, if it's ABS or PS you could put some polystyrene (Styropor) into acetone and glue it together with the goo that results (acutally it's even cold welding).
This should be quite strong, because unlike normal glue (e.g. Pattex), the joint has no real foreign materials which let it break apart easily :)
And when I tried it, it did not stick to my fingers!

The piece is all plastic with a female column just ahead of the window lock button built in to accommodate the screw that comes up through the power unit and locks everything in place.
I need a new plastic control module cover like the yaris version of the one pictured
