2008 srs airbag
Hello all,
I have an 08 yaris with the srs airbag lit. I jumped the codes and came up with 32. I tried clearing the codes and checked the connections and that did not do the trick. I'm assuming that I need to replace the squib pad in the passenger seat. Where is the best place to find one cheap and is there a write up on how to install? 32 is a problem with the Occupant Classification System. This is not a squib, but rather is the system which weighs the passenger and decides if the passenger weighs enough to be able to handle an airbag in the face.
Look under the front edge of the passenger seat an you will see a small black module with two connectors plugged in. Make sure that both are properly seated.

Yes, they are both plugged in. I checked all the cables to the seat. And tried to restest the light via jumping it and disconnecting the battery for 20 min wich did not work.

OK. Unfortunately to diagnose any further would require the Toyota TechStream tool. If you are interested, I have a spare (and tested good) OC ECU on hand.

Is there a way to just bypass the thing? I can pick up that box from my local pick and pull for 35 vise the 200 plus off the Internet. Should I just chance it?

Bypassing it requires a more expensive device. The $35 shot is probably worth it, as I have never seen the sensors fail, but have seen people have the OC ECU fail.

I talked to a dealer out here in Cali about the recalls on the vehicle, since the vehicle has an outstanding recall on the srs system and the passenger seat rails they will fix it for free
