Powershifting (a.k.a. flat shifting, full throttle shift, or clutchless shift) is a method of shifting used with manual transmissions to reduce the time where the driving wheels are not powered.

Unlike a normal gearchange in a manual transmission, a powershift does not utilize the clutch at all. Instead, the gear lever is "ripped" from gear to gear. If tried with a road car, this can cause catastrophic damage if not selected in the right RPM range, especially if the gearbox doesn't have synchromesh.

This type of shifting is mainly used in racing applications with gearboxes that have been specifically designed for this purpose. In this application, powershifting does not put very much strain on the transmission; most of the stress is absorbed by the clutch and the rear differential.[citation needed] This is one of the reasons manual transmission cars break the differential more often than automatics

well that cant be good :P

I only wish my car could be as awesome as that Corolla....
Even coming from a Yaris owner...when a Yaris driver calls a Corolla a girly car...it's kind of like the pot calling the kettle black.

Yes it was a joke :) If you view the rest of album you'd also see the normal speed ones..

It's ok to live in the slow lane :)

wow...that was a very dumb comment. way to powershift your economy car to a near 17 second time.. powershift and yaris don't belong in the same sentence. good job risking your transmission to beat a girl driving an automatic corolla...im not sure i would want to be bragging about that
