Is the Prius C the 3rd Gen Yaris Hybrid?

They dropped the Yaris Hybrid in Europe but not in the US.

IMO, I think the Prius C has the body of a Yaris but the interior is like the 1st and 2nd gen prius.

What do you guys think?

The Prius C / Toyota Aqua has a wheelbase 40mm longer than the Yaris. So it's not 1:1 but I'd be surprised if they weren't developed together.

Not the same car exactly but the Prius C "replaces" the yaris hatchback. It would have been nice to have both (like they do in Japan I guess), but between the yaris hatchback and the prius C, I think that it's nicer to have the prius C, just because it's different, and it must be a bit roomier.

I was in the market for a Yaris SE but the Prius C w/ EPA of 53/46 and a 1.5 liter generating 99 HP is really making me reconsider...

...and + the entune system streaming the data off a smart phone, w/ Navi, and the smart key system w/ push button start really changes the playing field...I know you are paying for it w/ the mark up in price between the Yaris SE & Prius C three but it just comes down to preference...

My last note is...if it only came in manual w/ rear disc brakes...that would really be the cherry's on top or anticipating the third 7 hitting the slots...

If the gas price goes up at 5, i might get the Prius C four. It comes with Navi, Entune, 16 inch alloy, sunroof, heater seat and leather seat. What else do you expect from it like this price. Also, avg 53 mpg.

I was thinking more of the Prius C 3, not fully loaded...don't need the sunroof and upgraded rims...I want to pick up the Prius C 3 as a commuter car and road trips. Hopefully the C 3 is like 22-23K...

I want to pick up a Civic SI EP3 0 02 - 05 Hatch or RSX as a beater car...but only time will tell...

Don't forget, the Prius C is much slower than the already-not-so-fast Yaris automatic. The Prius is 250 pounds heavier and has a half dozen less hp to boot. Apart from that it's mostly Yaris through and through.....for about $2500 more, give or take an option or two since they can't be exactly compared apples to apples. But it is nice that it offers a factory moonroof as an option.

The CVT gearbox and low end torque may make the Prius C almost as fast as the not so slow yaris A/T with it's antique 4AT. Anyway, I don't want to drive AT, so I won't buy a hybrid car as long as I can avoid it. And I find the yaris a bit more comfortable and roomier than the Prius C. With the bigger dimensions, I would have expected the Prius C to be slighty roomier.

I like the fact that the Yaris SE have rear disc brakes...that is "bling" like a civic DX with rear Disc conversions.

To me, the Entune Navigation system and 50 MPG average makes the Prius C much more technological advance over the prius...it's like the Jetsons meets the Flinstone in comparison...but who knows about the maintenance down the road...for sure the hybrid might be pricier.

The prius also qualifies as a Clean Pass Vehicle in NYS so that means you can use the HOV lanes during rush hour as a single occupancy...that is a deal breaker for a lot of commuters.
