I just barely broke 115MPH in a 2007 A/T Liftback. I'm stock, but I keep my entire ride as empty as possibly usually when I travel to keep fuel economy maximized.

Good video.

Enough with the "how fast". It is incredibly stupid. These are not toys so quit acting like boys.

I was driving to a Labor Day weekend party. On this back highway, I got behind an Eagle Talon Turbo with a fart-can muffler to boot. He was doing about 15km/hr over the limit, but there was no traffic, and I caught up to him so he wasn't going fast enough for me. The faster I got to the party, the quicker the beer would be flowing...
Anyway, I passed him, which I think hurt his ego somewhat: 'Young guy with his girl driving a turbo talon being passed by a wimpy Yaris' LOL !
Not much later after I passed someone else, he hammered on it and passed me after he passed the same guy I did. My wife and I were laughing about the whole thing. Then he went all nutty and was trying to pass everyone in about a 8 car line, one-at-a-time, to show off his "fast car" I suppose. It was quite entertaining. :D

Sounds like a contest - "I can drive more like a retard than you." You lost, but not by much.

If the road is good, 90MPH are no problem.
A while ago I reached 100MPH and I remember that downhill I once got close to 110MPH.
Remember the small engine I have ;)

This kinda hurts the MPG, I got 36 back then, but it was never worse than 33 :D

Explain how passing someone is retarded. I am listening.
Also explain that 20 km over the limit is retarded.

I made completely safe passes with no erratic driving maneuvers. He made a double pass, in a non-passing zone, with a turn up ahead disabling the view of any oncoming traffic. Then he played leap-frog with about 8 vehicles.

Thanks for useless commentary.

Lemme tell ya about MPG at high speeds. When I ran last year for the runs I did 13 passes at WOT through the power band up to 6k and after the total combined 20.5 miles I actually avg'ed still just shy of 30mpg with the bulk of the time near redline and over 100mph. I was pretty stoked. This year with my tune and VP100 racing gas I burned through 5 gallons on only 6 passes which only makes 9 miles however I had a more aggressive tune. I missed the 29+mpg especially when I spent 15 bucks a gallon for the VP100

I don't even wanna do the math on this year's runs to figure out mpg...lol

I will be intrigued to see how much fuel I burn next summer attempting 175mph in the mile. I can tell you that my friend with his 1200hp Nissan sr20 build burns 4.5 gals per 1.5 mile run on his 200+ mph passes. Guess I better dig deep just to start the damned engine!

If you ease into it, these cars can hit 112-115. Only on open straight roads, yes it's dangerous but what is life without danger? Lame, that's what.

A Toyota not a Toy.

Come on now!! Time to act like adults here. Maybe you have someone that loves you and might care that you kill yourself. Such disregard for yourself and your surroundings is vehicular terrorism. A car is an nothing more than an appliance and not a "Hot Wheels" toy. I challenge the moderator to kill this wholly stupid and hazardous subject. It serves no purpose except to "goat" idiots to act like idiots. Good day!

Fast Driving

I live in Vegas and the 15 freeway that goes straight through town is about 10 miles of extremely straight 12 lane freeway. I work late at night so the freeway is pretty empty on my drive's home so I have attempted to max out my Yaris simply for the sake of this thread. So far I have reached a Top speed of 115 MPH before I get scared that the NHP's are gonna be behind the next overpass column. I have a '12 Yaris SE M/T. The SE has significantly firmer shocks then the LE or lower models so it is very stable above 90 MPH.

My Car:

TTR Toyota Yaris Speed Record 147mph

The car currently tops out around 158mph on the dyno. I didn't have time to upgrade my injectors before the event which sucks because I am maxing out my current ones by 5200rpm. I did take the car out one last time after the event to see and I did break 150mp by 1.8 miles....only 3/10ths of a mile away! Next summer will be shooting for 175mph in the mile itself and 185-190mph in the 1.5. The thing to remember that this is a sanctioned event in a relatively safe environment.

115 limited by the ecu.

Yaris SE MT on TEIN S-Techs (at the time).

And definitely NO, the Yaris is NOT "stable above 90 MPH." The front springs are 10% stiffer on the SE. The shocks are the unchanged.

With an unnecessarily high stock ride height, high engine position, high battery location, high seating position, high roofline (yet with no legroom and a barely adjustable non-telescoping steering wheel), short front control arms, archaic transverse torsion beam rear suspension with NO anti-roll bar, garbage all-season no-traction constantly chirping Turanzas, delayed electronic assist steering (with less assist, yet lower steering ratio on the SE), and 70% of the vehicle's weight over the two front wheels, and no major changes since 2005, the (2012) stock Yaris is hardly "stable" at anything above 40.

Time to get a new car

Your entitled to your opinion, but if you ask me I think that you are driving the wrong car. Doesn't seem like you really like it that much.
