AFE drop in filter
Picked up a AFE air filter last week and its a great mod on a budget. If youre not into having an intake or just cant afford to buy the whole shebang, or even if you need to replace your paper filter, I highly recommend this. You dont have to oil it, K&N quality and results, and you can get one from Garm @ Micro Image. My paper filter was very dirty; but now my car feels more responsive, gets better gas milage, and you can hear it sucking air in (without it being overbearing).

Looks like a quality product.. Would you consider doing a UOA to check the silicon level?

EVERY mod FEELS better after you do it. That's just because there are less bills in your wallet between your butt and the road...
sweet! I take it you already did same trip testing before and after? Quote:
seriously though, its a good product, and it might replace my K&N just so I don't have to deal with the oil recharge kits, but lets keep it real. |

Why are you following me around bashing my posts? Ive been building cars for 13 years, and had a couple featured in magazines. I think I can tell the difference. I stated before that my paper filter was dirty, if you have even a little bit of connection with your vehicle even changing it to a stock clean filter would make a slight difference.

I'm not bashing your posts, I'm just asking questions... I even said your VW was a good price... I DO bash, and will continue to, every unscientific theory posted as fact. Maybe if you can't handle the same person replying to two of your posts, the internet isn't the right place for you. |

you need to poke some holes in the air box, then you'll hear something! or at least remove the silencer tube snorkel thing.
i didn't realize microimage carried it, thanks for posting. |

I've been wondering that myself. Can you just vacuum the filter or do you have to wash it, too? I have the K&N drop-in filter and I'm pretty satisfied with it. I could tell that I'd have at least a 30% improved flow just by looking at the K&N drop-in filter, and that was before the install. It's pretty simple to use... no dismantling of anything -- just replacing. And there's less intake noise, which can start to sound a little annoying/whiny when coming from such a small engine. |

You should wash the filter completely and let it air dry. The Simota drop-in is virtually identical to the one pictured above and you can run them dry or oiled.
If you do use oil, it must be used sparingly. |

If you guys have something to back your claims up and prove me wrong, by all means, post away and prove I'm an asshole. People make the same claims - sounds better, feels more responsive, and gets better gas mileage from using 91 fuel. I don't see you defending them when people tell them they are full of it. Is a dyno going to measure responsiveness, mpg, or volume? |

I'll be putting the product up today, it is in stock. Very nice filter for those that don't want to upgrade the whole intake system.

If you are right, post some numbers. Your claim of them not having gains has no validity as much as them claiming they do have gains. So for you to say they are wrong, and that they need to show numbers to prove they are right, is just as stupid as your say their claims are. Technically, the guy who installed the filter in HIS own car, that HE drives, should have more validity to his statement, opposed to yours. Until YOU can prove your claims with numbers, you will continue to be looked at as an ass.
