these aren't recalls, they are service bulletins. recalls involve pulling the product back for replacement or repair, usually at no cost to the owner and independent of any warranty or lack thereof. service bulletins are more like "if this happens, here is the cause and how to fix it" and are distributed to toyota dealer shops so that they can easily fix common known problems. usually, tsb repairs are not free unless you are still under warranty.

Thank you CTScott for those TSB's (T-AC001-07) HVAC odor. I've had a stinky AC 4 months after I bought the car and Toyota said they don't warranty bad AC odors but would clean it for $150. bucks. I was at Toyota yesterday with the TSB paper. They checked the AC and that TSB is superseded by another that requires Toyota to replace the evaporator all under warranty. Thanks again CTScott

does the above TSB (HVAC Odor) apply in US only?

Hi All,

I have had my Yaris Sedan for almost a year now, and this is the first summer I use it with A/C and I am getting the odor for the past 3 weeks now.

Do any of you know if the the TSB supplied by CTScott apply to all markets or only US market? I am in Lebanon - middle east and want to know if Toyota has to honor such TSBs or not.

I already went there once regarding some noise possibly from the timing belt and they said it was normal. I later found a TSB about the issue but didn't try to face them with it.

It would be a great deal of help if someone knows. that would help prevent me the hassle of going to the dealer and arguing with them about it.

TSB's are associated with VIN ranges. If your Yaris falls within the VIN's included I couldn't imagine them saying that it doesn't apply.

Thanks to everyone who followed up with updates on this TSB. I probably would have lived with this problem for as long as I had the car had I not read it here. Still being under warranty I got it in and the parts are ordered since my vin. was in the range.
