Add me to the list! At the dealership, they replaced my spark plugs at the 100K service. So far the only major mechanical thing to go bad on the car was the water pump, but even then it was still working fine, just leaking. Was taken care of during the warranty period.

Yeah, Mazilla has well over 500,000 miles now on that Yaris. He bought a courier company that had (among its assets) a fleet of not 1 Yaris but 20 of them. All of them had between 350,000 and 500,000 miles on them! He kept the one he liked best for himself (the one you captured in your post) and sold the other 19.

100,000 mile club

I'm a bit late to this old, but recently revived thread.

2009 three door, base model (cruise control the only option), manual transmission, completely stock. Original owner.

111,000 and zero repairs. Tires, filters, oil, spark plugs once, wipers, two lost hubcaps, one headlight. Original brakes and clutch.

I did get a recall letter saying that they need to fix the seat rail springs, but mine is not showing the symptoms. I will get that fixed once they have the parts.

I'd say that this is been extremely reliable car, a great purchase.

Edit: oh, and accessory belts at the hundred thousand mile service.

couldn't the title of this thread be changed....

...say to the 200,000 mile club. something of an accomplishment. Hondas/Toyotas at 100,000....no big deal, right? I considered it an accomplishment when my 1984 chevy citation hit 100k. that was a rare event. I expect most Toyotas and Hondas to hit 200,000 without to much owner costs incurred.

echo/yaris at 100,000. that's as common as an intern who got nailed by david letterman.

Wow, cool...memories! Drove MANY a Citation (& Citation II) They had their share of problems, but all the ones I drove were brand new or close to it.
Those 1985 X-11's with the 2.8 multi-port fuel injection V6's were good for about 130 HP - Gotta love Chevy doing a hot rod version of every model back in the day. I wonder what they would have put under the hood if they produced a Chevette SS

the non x-11 v6 was the first car I drove once I got my license. my parents also had a matching 4 speed manual citation. by 80,000 miles, just about every interior knob/switch was either falling off or ill fitting. interior panels were getting more and more misaligned. the engine was using so much oil that it had to be checked every 200 miles.

I give chevy credit...they were consistent, as our 4 speed manual had the exact same problems. they were both nursed to a little over 100,000 miles, then bought by a salvage yard.

those citations were what drove my dad to Toyota.

my college car was a 1973 chevy Malibu given to me by my grandmother. that was a big, solid car. but again, the engine was shot by 125,000 miles.

first car I bought myself was a 1989 civic hatch. drove it 210,000 miles with little trouble and never looked at a domestic make for 3 decades.

all cars are decently reliable these days, so I will look at pretty much any make.

well that does it....im going to pick this up. those blemishes will buff right out.

Your link prompted me to try to remember the last year of production. I correctly remembered that 1971 was the first model year, but I thought production ended in 1975 not 1977.

I think it was past 1975. In 1975, Chevy produced the Cosworth Vega (a car I wouldn't mind owning if I had the time and space) which, IIRC, was produced before the end of Vega production.

IIRC, the Cosworth Vega was black with gold trim. The next year ('76 model year) Ford came out with the 2nd Gen Capri and the (similar to the Cosworth Vega trimmed) 'Le Cat Black' was one of the trim levels. My dad was working for a Ford Dealer at the time, and in '77 someone traded in a '76 Capri...Yellow with a beige interior and a sunroof (and ugh...an automatic)...but the dealership gave it to me for the trade in value (great deal). A few months later, one of my best friends bought a '76 Le Cat Black.
