GOOD-BYE YARIS, HELLO FIT!

...well, not quite. I did buy a new Honda "Phit" which I'm picking up on Saturday, 10/25/08, but the Yaris will still be in the family, so I'll still be on this forum.

I love the Yaris, but after test-driving the Phit, I was SOLD! I bought the sport model with Navigation system, in 'orange revolution metallic' which is quite beautiful. The car has 6 air-bags, ABS, electronic stability control, auto transmission, etc. Every available option. The seats are so supportive too!

Can't wait to get it...will upload photos. Here is a picture of it (from the Honda website) in the orange I chose.

Congratulations! I'm curious, do you have the ability to turn the ESC/EBD off at will?

Not my fav choice of color, but deff a nice choice of car. I havent seen one myself in person but looks very spacious from the inside and you got a great package in the sport wtih some nice features. Looking forward to seeing your pics of the interior etc. And a pic of it parked next to a yaris for size comparison would be nice.

Cheers

And congrats!

The honda is a well made car. In 3 months give us an update as to the real world MPG.

Great looking car. I considered one, then priced it. :( Probably a good value feature-for-feature, but they don't offer one without all the bells and whistles (wouldnt' it be cool if you COULD get bells and whistles as an option?), and price was a huge factor in my decision to replace my CR-V. Do love Honda's, though. I've owned at least one Honda at any given time since 1992. Curious, what was the final price on that package?

Seperated at birth. Notice the mismatch rims on the Odyssey?

I saw one on the road last night. A wave of jealousy washed over me as that's a pretty nice car. Then I got home, turned around, looked at my car and then I felt great about my previous decisions. Just needed to be reminded of what I got and the price I got it for ;). Sorry, but personally, I take the stylings of the Yaris over the Fit any day of the week.

No kids, 2 door > 4 door imo

Dunno about that Fit. The front becomes low and extended. I like the overall "bubbly" look of the Yaris.

Different strokes, but I think the Fit is ugly! And this from the owner of an Odyssey!

But that's just my opinion, I hope it is everything you hope it is!

Cheers! M2

We / I plan to check out the NISSAN " Cube " soon as it arrives . Late spring ? What yeh expect from a SQUARE ? It's hip to be square , did have a '06 SCION XB once , a close cousin to the YARIS Liftback .

I think the ESC can be turned on & off. No color is going to please everybody of course, but I do love the orange revolution metallic. (As I always say, 'why fit in when you can stand out?') I never liked the looks of the original Phit, but I absolutely love the redesign. It is evolutionary, not revolutionary. I've not read one review (and I did a LOT of research on this car) which did not love what Honda improved with the Phit. It is the economy car against which all others must be judged.

Driving the "Phit" (I don't know why, but I really like that spelling!) really sold me. As a Yaris owner, I was able to do a good comparison, and the Phit really felt more solid, and MUCH more quite. The audio system sounds wonderful, and the Navigation system is easy and very intuitive. I also love the "magic seats". The back seats (where you plant your butt) can flip UP, giving you lots of flat floor space to put a bike, or other tall items. (There is also a "secret" storage bin under the back seat to store a radar detector, or other things you want to hide. (Shhh....) When you fold the back seats DOWN, they fold completely flat, and the room is astounding. It is VERY well designed, and very space efficient. I love all the safety features as well.

The "modifications" I am planning are minimal. I would like to get an electric sunroof, wheel locks, and more powerful halogen bulbs for the headlights. (Not HID, just stronger, brighter bulbs) Beyond that, I have already spent enough money, so that's about it!

I still love the Yaris, but I am thrilled to be getting the 2009 Phit. I will post photos, and I will report on gas mileage!
