tire pressure light

The tire pressure light just went on and after a quick walk around, none of the tires feel extremely low. I lost my tire pressure gauge and need to pick one up tomorrow. The first thing I thought of is that I may have scraped the tires against the curb a few times. Would this cause a problem with the sensor?

A tire does not have to be "extremely" low for the light to come on.
3lbs or so below specs can be enough.

sensor

I called my brother, who is a Toyota sales manager. He told me the sensor reads the pressure of all the tires, including the spare. He said that in many cases the spare tire is the tire that is low. I am taking the car in after work to have this checked out.

Your brother needs to read the manual. The Yaris only has sensors in the four main tires. The spare is not outfitted with one.

I always heard car salesmen know nothing about cars, just how to sell things, LOL!
