Clutch getting replaced; questions

Regarding those bushings, do they improve the vague feeling of the shifter? And how much more vibration (buzz) is tranferred back through to the stick with the rubber dampening gone?

That is exactly what they do. I haven't noticed (or heard reports of) any increased vibration. They aren't attached to the shifter, only the cage or the linkage, depending on which bushings you meant.

The NST Bushing Kit is great. Much improved feel, no extra vibration to speak of.

I voted remove because you wouldn't want them to ignorantly throw them away.

and if you tell them it's in there they might screw you over with the warranty

I'm also contemplating having them put the TRD Performance Clutch for the Yaris, and seeing if they'll let me pay the difference.

i doubt it seeing as they get the Toyota clutch for jsut about nothing, give it a shot, you never know. they might make u pay for the part ureself 100% but the labour will be covered

I called the dealership about possibly getting a TRD clutch put in instead; I'm awaiting a response from the dealer.

Awesome want to hear about this. I HATE the stock clutch. It feels so wimpy and the engage length is way too long.

Took the NST bushing kit and short shifter out today. I'm still waiting to hear back from the dealer regarding the TRD clutch.

good choice, you never know... but jsut a question...ure car is going in for a new clutch.... so have u really had a dead car all this time or will it still somewhat ingage?

that TRD clutch isn't much better than stock from what ive been reading with TRD and their clutches. id suggest going with something else....

Oh, it engages. It just chatters in first and reverse.

if so thats sick! my mom wanted to relearn how to drive stick on ym car lastnight and the clutch feels like its in a different spot now. if it can be covered when if finally does go, that is really really good

Well, if you know how to drive clutch, and your clutch is messed up under 36,000, there's likely something wrong with your clutch. Now, if you're riding the clutch, don't know how to drive a manual, or whatever, then maybe. But really: 36,000 miles should be pretty darn simply to achieve on nearly any clutch. We went 120,000 miles on our Civic with the original clutch (we sold the car, and it could still scratch 2nd gear). Ditto that with my 1998 Civic, 1998 Prelude.

lol, well i figured my mom still remembered how to drive it, lol. she drove an 85 corolla for 14 years on the original clutch (over 500,000km)

Yeah, there's no reason she should have any issues with the Yaris!

On a related note, I just got a call from the dealership, and it looks like they will indeed put the TRD clutch in (minus the difference in cost from the stock part). They're going to get back to me regarding the price difference.

Well, I think the Yaris' clutch is a bit touchy. Whether that's a function of the DBW or not, I don't know. I'm not a huge fan of it, though ...

Dealer called: Difference would be $328 vs. stock clutch. That seems a bit stiff; probably not worth it. Thoughts?
