Said Byebye to my 1st Yaris LB.

March 1st, in icey conditions I wrapped my 2008 LB around a telephone pole, which caused the telephone pole to snap in two about half way up.
Thanks to the airbags I escaped with only a crunched right hand, bruised right leg, bruised ribs, and a heavy concussion. I was in and out of consciousness and incoherent for 4 hours.
Tomorrow, March 13th. I'm using my insurance reimbursement and savings to purchase a 2011 Yaris LB with the same options, plus ABS! Woot!

Here are some pictures of my first Yaris after the telephone pole got in our way, his name was Enigma.

Damn!

I have the same color with side airbags, I feel better now but hope I never get to use them. If you get the new yaris in time, were having a cruise to Mt. St. Helens June 5th followed by a BBQ afterwards. It would be awesome to see you there (there's a info thread in the pacific northwest section).

Glad your ok, and considering another yaris.

Holy sheet!
Please tell me there were no passengers!
I have the same car/color but I don't have the side airbags :(
Were you belted in?

Thanks everyone. =)

yaris2010RS-> Yup, ABS and VSC is standard now I guess. One of the mechanics explained it to me and it's really cool how it works, makes me feel a lot safer.

Astroman-> I will mark the St. Helens Cruise on my calender and will put in for that day off.

auxmike-> No passengers thankfully, and didn't have my dogs with me. And yes, was belted in. I'm a seat-belt enthusiast. =)

The 08s have side bags? Did I miss something when buying?

Glad to see your okay. Always good to hear it when folks get in an accident in their Yaris and walk away okay.

To take a line from the movie "Doc Hollywood", when the mechanics were looking over his wrecked Porsche, one of them says, I can fix that!!!

That looks nasty. Glad you hit the pole on the passenger side.
How fast were you going?

Yea it's a good thing you weren't hurt more seriously in the crash. Your extremely luck those high voltage lines didn't come crashing right down on top of the car, would not have been pretty!!!

Sorry to see a fellow MM LB damaged, but very glad that you are okay.
Is the new one also going to be MM?

Damn! Sorry to hear, but the important thing is that the car did it's job and saved your life.
