OK so I installed my old TRD's Sportivos and TRD Springs on my new 09. I have the same problem and I'm not liking it at all.

I read on here that with the TRD setup, the bumpstops aren't needed to be cut. As a result of this, I have now aquired "the gap" ...

My last yaris I had cut the bumpstops because I had the Tanabe DF210's and then switched to the TRD's. All was flush when I swithced the springs.

In all honesty, I really don't feel save knowing that there is a little gap/play if for some reasonone of the fronts either goes slightly airborn or dips down on one side.

Isn't sitting on the bumstops not safe at all? And I don't want to hear I guess so if everyone else's is like that. I need an answer from someone who has been riding on them for a long time. Someone reassure me because I'm a littls ticked off right now and it's getting dark. I'm not taking it apart again at the moment and next step are coilovers when I get the cash so these are going to have to do for now.

P.S. I would have started a new thread, but we have too many of them already since sometimes the 'Search' feature isn't used (which I did lol).

Normal, mine has it too. Over 30k on sportivos with lowering springs. I even had the alignment checked at some point, for fun. It was perfect. Gaps mean nothing. Also, bump stops have nothing to do with this.

From what it seems, the bumpstops do have a play in it.

I rubbed on imperfected dips on the road when I had them on my '07 due to the bumstops being cut from the DF210's. Actually on both sets of springs minus the gap. Now it has magically disappeared, but with the gaps and I'm pretty positivesure that is the reason why. It's probably sitting on the bumpstops hence why it is being pushed up and why we have a gap , BUT if driven for 30K with no problems daily, I see no problem at all. My concern is when it comes to Auto X really due to the harshewr driving conditions one must do.

I need those that have the gap and do Auto X to chime in. I'd like to get back into it, but if I have to wait for coilovers, then I'll keep on doing what I'm doing (show and daily driving).

I'm running aftermarket bump stops that were fitted to the car by a person who is very knowledgeable about these things. The stops were measured to the correct size and length based on how much my car is lowered. It's possible the "problem" is from the stock uncut bump stops. Looking again at the photo, it does look like the gap might be bigger than mine. I'll have to check on that.

Everyone made me worry so I checked mine. I have the "GAP". I have had my DF's on for about 15k (with cut bump stops) and they have seen alot of abuse alot in the past 5k. (I'm getting ready to start auto-xing the car so I have been "practicing") I know Acouple of people have been auto-xing on DF's for a while. I think the "GAP" has something to do with it being a single nut set-up and not the more common 3 bolt set-up. I hope this helps if not I'm sure if you ask Tamago or Kngrsll could help shine some light on the subject.

I was jumping a truck two days ago.. and noticed my STOCK 08 Yaris looks the same... I don't think it matters if its lowered or not.

^^ Agreed.

It would appear that this is one of those things that is noticed and questioned only after performing work on your car. Part of reviewing afterward, and making sure everything is done right and tight. Suddenly, you're going WTF is with this gap, and thinking you've messed up somewhere.

For the record - stock suspension gap

Car sitting on flat level ground. Gap equal on both sides.

You can see how it does move up and down where the rust-proofing is rubbed away.
