Speed signal wire

Anyone know which wire leading to the OBDII connector/port is the speed signal wire?

Cheers

you mean car speed or engine speed?

if you are looking for vehicle speed the only one i was able to find was the signal to the speedometer, heres the link for the repair manual, is on pages 226 and 227.

http://www.etimago.com/yaris/repairmanual/EWD.pdf

and heres the pic for the tach/engine speed.

Heh not really. I have an APEXi Rev/Speed meter that I've currently got hooked up to display revs and g-forces (front/back and lateral), and was just thought if it was easy enough I may as well give it a speed input so I can record and replay laps at the track...

i just got an RSM. Hooked it up, but the RSM isn't getting any signal. Spliced into PIN 26 (Purple) which is supposed to be the VSS. Can anyone confirm if its the right wire? Maybe i have to change settings on the RSM itself.

Anyway. Had a look into the Manual. Found a working speed sensor wire which connects to the instrument cluster 24pin plug. Its pin 17 (pink).

It's not on the OBD2 port connector. The OBD interface sends serial data, there aren't individual wires for different sensors. You'll need to get the speed signal from the cluster loom or ECU loom.

As mentioned in lunjiaow's post, he got the speed signal from the pink wire going to the gauge cluster. You'll need to find the wire going to the gauge cluster with the tach signal for your application.

For reference, the common wires in the OBDII connector are simply 2xData, 1xground and 1xpower. The scanguage reads the serial data and processes it for it to display to you.
