Issue when starting..
I have had this happen a few times. I turn the key to start the car and it is almost as if the car "half starts." It is running, but seems as if it is severely missing and the starter is still cranking. If I shut it back off and then start it again, it is fine. Again, this has only happened a few times. Any ideas?

Sometimes out of the blue my Yaris will crank for a long time with my hand off the key until it finally starts and sound kind of odd at first. Then, after that starting up is fine. Not sure if it's the same issue you are talking about but it has been doing it for the past 3 years on rare occasions and it's been 100% reliable.

A few times when my car didn't start immediately, and it continued to crank all by itself until it started! Interesting feature.

Yeah, you just twist the key and let go right away and the car self cranks itself.
I thought something was wrong with the car when I first got it. Then I wondered why there was such a huge delay between stepping on the gas and the car actually moving. I hate drive by wire....

the 010 drive by wire seems to be way better then the 08's if you try a throttle control it would help with the throttle response

You might want to run a fuel system cleaner.

There was a long thread about this last year, and as I recall several folks said they'd fixed the problem by holding the key turned to the start position till it started, and NOT just quickly blipping it over to start and back to run, letting the computer handle it. Try searching the archives.
