Cars with ABS brakes are 65% more likely to be in fatal accidents

Then cars without them.

I would be interested to see what the estimate was based on.

Keep in mind the percentage of cars on the road that are equipped with ABS. It automatically makes them more likely to be in an accident.

It’s felt that ABS makes drivers more aggressive, because they believe their car will get them out of trouble with ABS brakes. Unfortunately even without bad road conditions this aggressive behavior leads to more accidents even in good conditions, Ironically.

How interesting. To suprf1y's point, I wonder how they chopped the data up.

Are there still any new cars sold without ABS?

Doesn't look like it eTiMaGo.

ABS is required on all new passenger cars sold in the EU since 2004. In the United States, the NHTSA has mandated ABS in conjunction with Electronic Stability Control under the provisions of FMVSS 126 as of September 1, 2013.

I rode a motorcycle for 40 years and learned to avoid congested areas. No riding in town, no riding to work during rush hour. Stay on the interstate, but not around cities except at night. Stay on back roads weather at home or on the trip.

Never had an accident. Never got hurt. Never lost a motorcycle. I think you’d be happy riding again If you avoid problem areas
