Stickerbombing dash pieces!

has anyone else done this? I did mine today because of the paint splatter. i've been slowly trying to get it off but the paint is so robust i'm doing more damage to the plastic than the paint specks! so for now i sticker bombed them and my wink mirror. someday i'll find new dash pieces and keep them on the side.

stickers have been applied, mod podge is slowly making its way on there now :D

That is cool. I'm sorry the paint isn't coming off. My one and only idea was what I described to you. Anyway, post up when pieces are back on.

"Stickerbombing"? So that's what they call that... Didn't know that anyone came up with a term for that...

Should look interesting when it's put back in the car.

It's alright, i was most likely going to do it sooner or later anyways, lol :D

I'm surprised it didn't work as well myself. Turns out nail polish remover seemed to do the best in the long run, but it discolored the plastic pretty bad(worse than the mineral spirits were). it did take it off the wiper stalk with no harm, though. difference in plastics, i guess. I'll get new dash pieces sooner or later and have a regular set too.

They'll be back in the car tomorrow morning, and possibly the wink mirror as well. gotta figure out how i'm going to mount it without drilling any holes, if I can.

yeah, it's just putting the stickers all over it however you feel like, I'll take some close up pics tomorrow also. some are overlapping, some are right next to each-other. if you look close you can still see some black plastic under too. I even cut some up to get it just how I wanted.

Afterwards, you coat the stickers with a clear acrylic adhesive / sealer / finish. I use "Mod Podge" which can be required at pretty much any store that has a craft section. (i got mine at micheals arts and crafts, but Walmart carries it also) It comes in a spray can form, and brushable form. this time i used brushable. if it would have been a larger flat piece i would have used the spray can.

I used the Matte finish, as a friend of mine who did his used gloss, and i wanted to be a tad different. both end up with excellent results. Mod Podge goes on white, but dries clear, so don't freak out, lol.

Suffice to say that MS is all I use on my plastics when it comes time to remove and re-treat with the UV stuff that I use. Never had an issue. With that said I am currently pondering getting a few new pieces and doing a paint or carbon fiber on them.

looking good! but watch out cause the speedometer likes to reflect EVERY SINGLE THING. I wrapped my speedometer trim with cf before and on really sunny days i cant see the gauges cause of reflection/glare. I took it off for a more classy leather :)

I wonder if the discoloration i was seeing was the uv protection being removed, and a little bit of the paint smearing. the Kleen Strip was working, but i stopped because i thought I was staining the plastic, lol.

anyhow, it's pouring rain and I'm trying to convince myself to go put these in before i have to go get my windshield re-sealed. Dang Oregon....
