rear window ledge

Do you use the window ledge in the back of your car?
What is the purpose of those two square hanging pieces of carpet with the velcro on one side? Is it a big deal just to remove this item completely?

I am learning more every day. Yesterday I learned how to fold down the rear seats correctly.

That "ledge" covers the goodies you keep in the back from prying eyes.
The two velcroed flaps are designed to extend as you slide the rear seats forward, thus still keeping your stuff out of sight.

It's just a cover to hide what's in the "trunk". Might prevent someone smashing a window to get in and steal your stuff. If you don't care, go ahead and remove it. Be sure to save it for when you want to sell the car.

Thanks, I am learning more every day. My 1980 Toyota Corolla liftback had something similar.

Every HB I've ever owned had something like that.
