dc header, paint?

I'm pulling the trigger on a DC heade to increase some low end torque. I know that it's ceramic coated but can it be painted with high temp exhaust paint? I want to match it to my engine bay.

I don't see why not. What color would you paint it? The other question is, who'd see it back there?

Don't ask why but my engine bay is. A blue/yellow ikea color scheme.

No one would really see it except for me. However i'd like to keep the color scheme going and it would be very easy to do before I install the header. I'd also like it to be yellow over the matte gray it comes in.

So far I have my rad hoses, intake mani and TB, airbox (will be a trd intake soon and will be painted yellow) and engine cover all painted.

I just didn't know if the paint would affect the ceramic coating somehow.

Paint wont take the heat, you will have to use a colored coating. It will likely cost more for the coating than the header, but it can be done.

I was just going to buy a rattle can of high heat paint and go from there. If that won't work then i'll just leave it as is

Also why paint? Where it's located you don't even see it.

You could always wrap it:

Apparently wrapping it voids the warranty since it's coated. I'll just leave it stock probably just in case

A couple things to consider, contact DC and see if they will:
a. ceramic coat a header in a custom color or
b. sell you a bare header (preferably at a slight discount) and then have it sent out and ceramic coated in the color of your choice.

Also, I think painting over their ceramic coat will void the warranty as well.

Any alteration to the header is going to void the warranty. Decided if you want it yellow, or want a warranty.

Never heard of one having a problem.

I painted my exhaust near the back by the 2nd muffler and it mostly burned off. I also painted my header but that only lasted for 15 minutes before it burned off as well.

My header gets hot enough that it develops mill scale, which is somewhere in the 1200-1800 degree range.

Good question. Does that improve performance?

I've heard painting your callipers red adds an extra 25 KW of power...
