Radio noise.. need help

if i have my ipod connected just to the HU its fine.. no noise..

when i have the ipod plugged into both the audio and the 12v power supply i get a high whine noise..

i also noticed when screwing the screw in for the HU mounting bracket that when i touch the car to the bracket i get a buzz..

sounds to me like there is a ground loop somewhere?

i was getting lots of noise from the radio antenna.. and i bought a noise filter for that and now the antenna noise is gone .. but now i have 12v adapter noise.. lol

any ideas?

think its just a bad HU?

i tried taking the power from the sub amp to see if it was the ground from that giving me issues and its not..

any help will be appreciated.

Dude... never run an external source off your 12v... you're damn near guaranteed to have noise, Unplug it from the 12v and you'll be great.

HU is fine... You could try increasing the HU + & - cables from the piddly stock 18awg to something like 8-12awg straight to the battery, and then also redo that 12v cig wire the same. Should help reduce/remove any voltage differential.

Filters may also help remedy.

i already ran the ground from the HU to the Ground bolt by the fuse box

the sound is fine when the 12v isnt plugged in..

I really wanted to be able to charge the Ipod as i listen to it.. shouldnt that be an option?

there was a very helpful thread on her prior to hack that explained a way to rig it up which some had success with.
Thread is prolly gone... I'd say google the issue... its not a yaris specific thing... its a "cars fucking blow for audio" thing.

one more thing..

my harness has a yellow (battery constant line) and a red (ignition)

would i be running the yellow line direct to the battery? not the ignition right?

Shit... I hate deck installs, (box design is my forte) now you're asking me questions I only deal with once every 4 years. I believe you're right.. but hell... wouldn't hurt to do both. Just don't forget to fuse.

This is really making me think...

I would bet my paycheck that you don't get the noise unless your car is turned on... which makes me re-think, and say, the Red wire.

I dunno... Bah... do Red, or do Both.

I get this same noise when I have my iPod connected to my stock deck and have the charger plugged into the 12v outlet. I think its a normally reaction.

I meant upgrade the ignition wire as well... not run it straight to battery...

Run the always on 12v to the bat directly with your own bigger awg wire.
If you can.... find the relay or circuit that the Ignition wire comes off of, and then upgrade the wire starting at that point.

If you haven't done so already, also upgrade the forgotten "2" of the big three.
Alt charging wire, and the bat ground.

Idea is to reduce as much possible resistance in the power chain as possible.

Isn't that always the case?
Can't be doing troubleshooting when it's 75 - 80 degrees F outside.
