The day i drove off the lot in mine my cd player stopped working. Everything worked just fine except the cd player. It wasnt really a big deal. Got a new one the next day! Suck its ur tranny tho..

If my transmission went bad less than a week after buying the car, I'd be back at the dealership asking for a new car...

You can ask but Toyota as well as the other car dealers are not obligated to give you a new car. They only have to fix the problem which this car should be fine after new transmission. Bad luck as the Yaris is very dependable.

Which is why I posted the details of the Florida Lemon Law. Nowhere does it say you are automatically entitled to a new vehicle, it is only after the dealer has attempted to correct the problem can you start the process.

If the OP's dealership is successful in fixing the problem the issue is solved. And I honestly don't think they are going to replace the entire transmission just to solve the problem he described, it seems excessive but you never know...

It could be a relatively minor issue, but the dealer is not likely to spend the time to rebuild the transmission; swapping in a new one is much faster and easier.
