ive been checking my mpg since i got my car 2 weeks ago.
39mpg on the first tank. 41.2mpg on the second tank.

i was excited to see pump up my tires a bit, and see if it would help.... the dooor specs them at 32psi, but the tire max is 44psi.

i check them today (barely warmed up) and they were set at 46psi !!! yikes.
thats how it left the dealship.

anyone else see this??

Nope mine were @ 36 but I just uped them to 44. I've been getting 38-40+, anxious to see what happens now @ 44 psi.

you shouldn't drive the car with tires overinflated.. it makes them stiff and reduces the footprint in contact with the road.. plus if you run into potholes or debris the tire may become damaged more easily..

ideally you should roll at the rec. 32psi... and make sure to check tire pressure with cold tires, taking the measurement after driving will increase the reading..

i agree w/ riceboy here...i just keep em at 32psi
...and u should give room for increase in pressure...especially when the temp rises

well...overinflated is anything over the max (44psi).

the 32psi is the recommendation for the CAR manuf. for optimal comfort and handling.

actually alot of people are running higher for better fuel efficency... some (not me) even go higher than the max with no problems.

i put mine 34psi at the fronts,and 32 at the rear

I put 40 in my RE92's (it was a warm day) They sit at 44-46 when hot.

Mine is 34 psi all around. The manual says 32 psi. However, I think my tire pressure gauge may not be very accurate and I prefer to err on the high side. I believe it is more risky to err on the low side (e.g. leaking over time may make the pressure even lower). Also, I like the slightly better handling and fuel economy that comes with +2 psi.

In my humble opinion, a higher tire pressure can make the tires stiffer and hence produce an effect similar to that produced by sportier (harder) suspensions, hence better handling. There is, however, a limit to how much one can overinflat as far as comfort and safety are concerned. Among other things, an exceedingly high tire pressure may often result in a stiffer ride and a longer braking distance.

Less contact area will also reduce wet stopping distance! Thats when you need it most. I love the feel of the higher pressure, on every toyota I ever had then it rains and I go back to what the Car says, not the tire!
