2nd gen vs 3rd

Pretty new to the Yaris so I have been reading as much as I can in this forum and elsewhere. Trying to see if there's much of a difference from a suspension, track or other between the Gen. 2 cars (2012 to 2014) and the Gen. 3 cars (2015 onwards)....I'm assuming I have this much correct? I'm thinking the main difference is the nose treatment but maybe there's more to it than that?

Would like to find a suitable car to pursue H Prod. racing.

Please feel free to suggest other sources I can reference or read to understand the minor or major changes that have occurred in the models.

1st gens are branded as Echos, the second gen (2006-2011?) Were the yaris.

I'm assuming you want to know the difference from 2nd to 3rd gen? If so not a lot changed drivetrain wise at all. Suspension very similar if not virtually identical. They added a bunch of nanny devices that add weight but with HP you would he stripping that out iirc.

I'm no expert on the differences in generation to generation so I'll let others chime in

Get a hold of The Barber and get him to source you a 1st Gen 2 door CE Hatchback. Nothing better for the track.........it's the lightest of the bunch.

1st Gens Rock!

Stripped down to race weight its hard for me to say at this point. I have recently purchased a 2 door 2nd Gen that's been given the full lightweight treatment but haven't yet found the time to get it on my scales........

Truthfully I bet the 2nd Gen could be just as light........

My First Gen with no back seats or passenger seat comes in just under 2000lbs......that's still with all the carpet, interior skins and headliner........

I rolled over an MTO scale once in my 2 door hatch. Now I don't remember the exact weight but I believe it was around 2350lbs with me and half a tank. im 185. I don't usually run a back seat but most of the panels were there.

Our 2007 was 1814lbs without driver, race ready (fully caged). That car had a carbon (fiberglass) hatch and hood. At the end of the 2014 season they increased the minimum weight of all the multi valve cars in HP, so in the later builds we kept the steel hood and hatches, these cars were about 1840lbs.
