Uuuuuuuh....OK.

I do like to change the oil in my Yaris.

I do have one bitch/gripe though:
I wish there was a central jack point on the front of the Yaris.

All my other cars have had a re-enforced point to jack the front of the car.

WTF?! Does the Yaris have anyplace to jack at the front?

I just pick up the front end with one hand and shove a cinder block under the frame.

There is a central jack point on the front of the Yaris. In fact, if you look underneath the front of the car there is an enormous arrow that points right to it! It is outlined in the manual.

i just got my yaris in place of a 97 dodge intrepid. so its a huge difference. a lot less of a pain in the ass. when i was done i thought "...this was way too easy...."

and it's nonsense. not nonsence ;)

I really appreciate the ease of adding windshield wiper fluid.

It's Fun!

Can we start a new thread on that?!?

I agree with flagmunkey. This car/engine combo is a joy to change the oil on. FWIW The Honda Fit looks like an easy oil change car too.

Our last car was a 2003 Sentra with the 1.8L QG18DE. The oil drain bolt was easy enough to get to, but the oil filter was on the rear or firewall side of the engine. Not a lot of space to work in back there. When the filter was removed the oil would then drip down the side of the engine block and onto an exhaust flex pipe; unless one knew about placing something over the flex pipe, then the oil would drip onto the ground or the person's body as they were under the car still removing the filter. If it worked its way into the flex pipe the car would smell for a while...

Never had a car where I could just reach under and unscrew the oil filter with my hand that didn't require the car to be lifted. Its awesome.

Can someone post an official 'appreciate door panel removal' thread also? Its my second favorite.

Where is the oil pan on the 2007 Yaris? I know this seems like a stupid question. I assume it's the black pan with the 14mm plug?
Don't want to dump the wrong stuff out.

The front jack point is way under the car though... How can you reach it to jack it?

How so??? My wife's 06' Civic is almost identical in terms of oil filter placement and drain plug placement. Toyota's downfall is that an OEM filter is almost $7 with tax. The civic's filter only costs $4.50..

Guess I haven't had enough hondas....my bad. Just remember older ones between the engine and firewall, where I've never had a toyota like that (other than my MR2's where the firewall's ahead of the engine).

You'd need a bigger floor jack. I've got a cheapie and while it reaches, there isn't enough room for the handle to stroke.
