16 September Auto-x {PICS}

Pics of the fun at yesterday's auto-x. Did not do that great, course was much longer than usual and I got lost on the first couple runs. My best time was a 57.6--still I was not the slowest and for me that's really something!

Here's me rippin it up.

I shared the Yaris with my best friend, whose Miata (like mine) was in no shape to run. He beat me by only about 3 seconds in my own car, which is so great for him! <bleah>.

One of the other girls liftin a wheel in her Integra

Dude getting the top time of the day in a very nice Mini Cooper S

"Airwolf" in the (almost) unbeatable scooby

My favorite car at these events--watching this guy is like a dream, so smooth on his lil 13s

Body rooooooooooolllllllllllllll

My vehicle was not the smallest there

congrats, that is really cool that you are doing Auto-X. I've done time attack but I'm afraid I'd get lost on the auto x course.

Thanks! I like auto-x because it may be tricky but you're going pretty slow--yesterday actually got to use 2nd gear for the first time this season! I'm a little intimidated by the thought of going track speeds in my Yaris.

AutoX courses are short enough for that not to be a problem ;) Usually. Locally there was an 85 second course this year... I got lost. And it was way too long to remember. So I never really improved :(

I'm surprised the F125 car wasn't FTD...

Well, now that you mention it he might have--but since he was the one who designed the course this time no one paid any attention!

Ever driven one of those shifter carts? It looks like a blast.

Nice man... we had a great event on Sunday too up in Austin. How many times did you walk the course before the start? Did you get a chance to draw a map and take notes as you walked it??? Those things really help me from getting lost and let me concentrate on where the *uck I'm going, heh, heh.
Cheers.

It's great to see another Yaris on the Auto x course. Up here in Canada we design our courses a bit differently. There's still the slalom and box elements, but you get up in 2nd gear easily. Reaching up to 100k's at times It's alot of fun.

It amazes me how the US events are so big and there's such a huge participation compared to Canada.

Speaking of speeds/gears, it is interesting how perhaps different areas/clubs set thiers up: most of ours run in at least 2nd, only a very "tight" course requiring 1st for a corner or two. I even had to grab 3rd for bit on one, though usually just let the RL bounce for a second, LOL. I'll try to post something from the latest once I go through them.
Mojo; how many entrants at your, avg? San Antonio ones are usually 70-100 avg, Austins 100-128(max. size) avg, with some evil shifters thrown in there for good measure, ha, ha, haa...

Thanks! I cut them out from magnetic sheets. Ordered from Dick Blick art supply (what a name huh), about $15. They stay on really well.

Should have talked to you beforehand! I'm still a beginner (ie dummy), so I walked the course several times but did not make a map or notes until I had already run two bad laps. Ugh, this "live and learn" shite is getting old

I looked at that awhile back, but unfortunately it's a good 200 miles or so away. Maybe someday.

Hmmmm... are there any other Yarii drivers around your area who might want to make it a cruise/meet/race event? It would be a bit of a drive, but you'd get to see some other folks and then see how you do/help each other around the course.
I'm still waiting for some other Yaris-is to show up at our local events. So far only a few Fits...
