There was a great one before, but I think it was lost.

The DIY for removing the steering wheel and airbag was in the DIY for the leather wrapped steering wheel. Someone else made a separate DIY for installing the new stalk.

Can't find either thread anymore.

man i got fed up with trying to wire all that stuff so i ended up not even using a switch or relay and wiring them to the parking lights. been working fine ever since. doesnt take a load high enough to hurt anything. toyota switch was 89 and relay was 50, so i saved myself a bit of money

Damn. I guess there's no way to recover/repost the DIY? Kinda new to the whole forum thing.

It wasn't difficult to install the fogs. The only part that stressed me out was when I had to pull the ends of the bumper cover outwards so I could place the fog lights into the shrouds.

After that it was as simple as plugging the fog lights into the right pin in the fusebox in the engine bay, plugging the relay in and removing the steering wheel to plug the new stalk in.

Can you expand on exactly what you mean here. I will be doing this for the first time soon and any insight would be very much appreciated. I was under the impression that installing the fogs was as easy as removing the bumper, installing the fogs and popping the covers/shrouds on last. Ofcourse, you have to hook the connectors up too but then just putting the bumper back on and the other stuff and your done. Are you saying that the lights go into the shrouds and then the shrouds go into the bumper openings? Is there a specific sequence to do this? Thanks!

Just another bump.

Can anyone verify the part numbers needed for the '09 5-door Liftback?

Found a kit on eBay that is made for the 09/10 LBs:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=150401427321

Just purchased a kit after the seller guaranteed that the kit would fit / work w/ my '09 5-door LB.

Now, before I go out and order all the other parts anyone know if the part #s have been updated?

Again, this is for an '09 5-door LB:

New stalk / combo switch w/ fog light switch:
84140-52151

--------------------------------------------------------------

For the Relay, I'm not sure if I need to purchase one. The kit I purchased looks like it comes with one, but anyway I searched ToyotaPartsCheap.com for these part #s:

90987-02027 - I got multiple hits w/ one being listed for the '07 Yaris. The price for the relay is $57.09.

90987-02012 - I didn't get any hits specifically for the Yaris. It was listed for many Toyota models from '07 and earlier and price is only $20.44.

================================================

Finally, on the '09 5-door LB, do you still connect the fog light wires to the same pins in the box in the engine bay (Where the thick red wire is connected)?

That is all correct. As for the relays, both part numbers function identically. One superseded the other. You can find them on eBay for under $10.

Thanks again CTScott. The ebay auction for the fog light kit I purchased shows this picture:

I circled something in red that looks like the relay. What do you think?

That's just a standard automotive relay. The Toyota one is much smaller and is blue.

Is there a choice to go with either the stalk with fog controls or the fog lamp switch that comes in the kit?

Sure. With any kit you can do it either way. Like Garm's kit though, you'll have to do some snipping of the included wiring.

If you are using Garms Kit or any Ebay Kit
you need to do the following .
and if you want to use the Fog Light Stalk on the Steering Wheel
no wiring need s to be done inside the cabin

Garms Kit comes with the new relay in the picture and the little Red
lead that plugs into the under bonnet fuse box
the pics below are what i did to Garms Kit .

Is there any harm in installing parts as they come?

I get the new stalk today and the relay on Tuesday next week. The fog lights are coming from Taiwan so I'll have those in a week or two.

I don't want to wait until I have everything so I don't end up with one big install.

No problem with doing it piece by piece. Each of the three is part of a series circuit (so to speak), so until all three are in place it's an open circuit.

There used to be some threads here on YW w/ pictures on removing the steering wheel, the stock stalk and then replacing the stalk w/ a new one. Can't find those threads anymore.

Anyone have links to or have the pics. from those threads?
