Does oil drip from the engine when it's runnin?

How much oil do you have to add?

I can't really see much from the pic but check to make sure it's not dripping off of your oil filter and then landing on a different engine part.

First thing i'd check I your valve cover gasket to se if that's leaking oil. From there, it could be your timing cover gasket which is not a solid gasket but one you mak using RTV before you instal it

Hi thanks for your replies i don't have to add oil between oil changes and it doesn't drop while is running also is not the filter either I was going to replace the valve cover next week I saw a post about a guy Hershey saying it was the head gasket on his but how can that be if it's on top of the engine the leak is like right next to the timing cover its a little piece of that block that's a little deep and the oil collects in there my oil cap is not milky or anything like that and there is no oil on my spark plugs or my coolant so I'm puzzled will change the valve cover gasket as you suggested and go from there

The best way I can describe it is a little above the manifold I think on the left side passenger side

The timing cover gasket can I get it at the stealership because I looked online and couldn't find it what do you guys recommend just change both at the same time the valve cover one and timing one? And the timing one is it easy to do?

If it's from th passenger side and above the manifold then it is most likely just your valve cover.

The timing cover is a fairly large job and will take take realistic 8hrs I you've never done it before or aren't familiar with it. And if you don't make the gasket right then you have to re do it.

The valve cover gasket you simply buy as a whole gasket that you just simply replace. The timing cover gasket is made by you applying RTV to the correct area at the correct amount and then re installing.

You have to remove the water pump and the pulleys before you remove the timing cover.

The crash beam is also in your way making a jack under the engine and loosening the engine mount part of the job.

Just start with the inexpensive valve cover gasket. Do not over torque the bolts, they do not need much and will strip easily...ask my '02 Echo how I know...

If there's no drop in oil level on the dipstick and no oil dripping from the engine While running you don't have a problem.

If you want to play around and change gaskets for grins and giggles that's OK but probably not necessary.

Good luck!

Looks like it may be the timing chain cover due to sealant . It's a common thing . It shouldn't do any harm if not resealed . I would still check oil level once a week or so .

Had the same issue.. it was a very light sweat of oil in the same area.. snugged up some of the bolts on the timing cover, and it stopped.. its been like 4 years and no oil...
