HVAC BLOWER ISSUES

Lets just get it out now...... That what she said....

So yesterday i was revamping my audio system, due to a hum from one of my speakers i decided to rewire my entire audio system (Double din HU, 12" Kenwood shallow series sub, 1200Watt mono block amp, 1400Watt 4 channel amp, 8 speakers, 2F Cap)

I re-ran all the wires from the HU to the amps and then from the amps to the speakers. i also re-ran the power wires and remote wires.

I was very happy with the sound of the system when i was done and the hum is gone.

Today when trying to go out i found out that i somehow fudged up my HVAC Electric blower......Actually the entire HVAC control unit seems to be acting up. It no longer lights up when the head lights are one, nor does it turn on the HVAc fan. The AC light will illuminate as long as the selector switch is on any number other then 0 and my rear defogger light will flicker when i press it but will not stay on.....

i did check fuse #3 under the drivers side kick pannel and fuse #24 (iirc) in the engine bay and they do look fine. with fuse #3 removed i was no longer able to control the brightness level of the instrument cluster.

Also on my HVAC controls, i did check the voltage at the main connector and i did have 12 volts on the red wire

any ideas where i may have messed this up? Thanks in advance

Thanks Scott, I did also check that one (#2 i believe) and it was also fine.

With that fuse pulled my cluster no longer displays my headlight on illumination, also my dimmer switch does not function with that pulled

it doesnt appear i have anything on the car acting up, all my other illuminations work and the car does run and drive around.

Is it possible the hvac is controlled through the ECM or is it straight mechanical from switch to HVAC motor?

the red wire to the fan speed selector does show there is +12v going to it. is it possible this harness has a seperate ground that came loose?

Does the harness from the control unit go to either the drivers side or passengers side plugs/harness kick pannel s?

im trying to figure out how i could have messed this up and behind the kick pannels were a high traffic work area

The AC ECU is not controlled by the ECM. Did you check the 40A fusible link on the face of the under dash panel.

what would be some measured voltages at the plugs?

also where would be some good places too look for a fault of some sort?

Does the rear defroster work?

To start with, I would check the connectors on the AC ECU, which is located under the edge of the carpet to the right of the gas pedal.

It has two connectors - One with 16 pins and the other with 24 pins.

On the smaller connector: Pin 8 - Yellow - 12V Ignition switched

The AC light will turn on and off no problem
