So far no non-U.S. members chiming in about receiving a big win-fall cheque in their mailbox.

Got mine yesterday. $29.xx for my '07. Why is it such a varying amount for similar, if not the same models? Stuff like this is so weird because the recipient is clueless on how it's calculated. If Toyota had never sent the checks, most wouldn't even know.

As for why we are getting these checks it's still unclear. The top of letter mentions the unintended acceleration hoax (found to me driver error), but also other things. The Yaris wasn't even included in the case. And even if it was, why would Toyota owe us anything after it was fixed?

Pages 267 and 268 of the settlement gives the list of vehicles covered:

http://www.toyotaelsettlement.com/pd...20EXHIBITS.pdf

2007-2010 Yari are included, and 2006 hatchbacks in P.R. only.

I didn't read the docs nearly completely, but I deduce this is only for reduced resale value due to claimed potential for unintended acceleration. Bodily injury and property damage are specifically excluded from the lawsuit, so they would be handled separately.

I got a check yesterday for almost $30. I have, or had, only the one Yaris from that list.

It must be understood that its just part of the legal settlement that is actually beneficial to Toyota.

For one thing, when you cash the check, you surrender all potential legal/civil recourse against Toyota concerning this.

Also, As I understand it, Toyota did not even have have to legally admit fault.

I wonder if the amount per check is varying depending on location of owners? Mine is for nearly 30 dollars as well. Was a nice little surprise, I didn't expect to get one.

I received a check for $29.23 yesterday.
My 2007 was part of the settlement by what the web site said.

Miserable Toyota bastards! Serves them right for making a reliable economic car!

I got mine a while back... for $125, I think! I'll see if I can find a copy of it.

Edit:
Found it on my bank's website...

Yeah, I usually could care less about class-action lawsuits. Especially this one, as I don't really think the value of my car went down at all.

I just figured I might as well take a little bit out of the settlement fund before the lawyers got the rest...
