Any threads on here for replacing license plate bulbs?

I wanted to replace some of the lights on my 2010 Yaris Sedan and the cheapest looks to be the license plate bulbs. I saw these: http://store.ijdmtoy.com/2825-168-19...yota_sku02.htm and thought the Xenon White would look pretty snazzy at night.

Is there another thread on here for DIY of these bulbs and also, this may sound dumb coming from a newbie, but are these street legal? I'd hate to waste the money and then be pulled over for it.

I replaced mine with an LED awhile back using the directions in the on-line 2007 service manual. I don't know if the process remains the same but I haven't had any issues with the law as it brightens up the plate.

I know my liftback just pulls down....I'm not sure about the sedan. You can just look and see if you see a pry tab.

I tried few various LED bulbs for the LP light and eveyone just gave a limited spot of light due to the light only using a single bulb and the nature of LED bulbs..... just like in the pic in your link.

So, I finally settled on a "hyper white" incandesent bulb which gives a a more even light accross the licenses plate (and keeps the cops away).

My all time favorate is the "Polarg (Type 168, 194) Super White Mini Wedge Bulb M4". Do a search (Google, ebay, etc) for "Polarg M4".
They are a bit expensive but, they seem to last forever.. .... at least for 2-3 years or more and give a bright, white light.
I had a pair of them in my Celica's LP and they lasted over 4 years using them 45 minutes nightly on weekdays commuting from work.

BTW, I also use them in my front parking lights.
