What's your take on the new Yaris sedan/ Scion iA?
What do you think of the 2016 Yaris sedan/Scion iA? I like the six speed transmissions and the high MPG. But not to sure about the look of it. What are your thoughts?

I tried out a 6 speed auto Ia and my knee was hitting the center console . Maybe a better adjustment of the tilt / telescopic steering wheel and the seat adjustments would help that . I think C.R. or Autobytel complained of the knee rubbing .

I can't get past the angry/depressed fish snout, nor the weird, disproportionate shape of the car (same with the Mazda3). Also, I do not like the retro old-school budget headlights, or the OEM alloys on it. I do really like the rear taillights though, and the thought of a good 6 speed automatic is nice. As far as 6 speed manual versus 5 speed manual, they are interchangeable as far as I am concerned, and I actually prefer the 5 speed versions really. It's also nice how they gave the iA an exhaust finisher tip, unlike where they cheaped-out on the Yaris SE and didn't (luckily a good one is easy to find).
I cannot really comment on the interior, since I haven't personally experienced it for feel, but I'm not a fan of the protruding tablet touchscreen design positioning in the cockpit (another signature Mazda thing). Then there is the long-term Mazda versus Toyota quality issues to consider. Any extra MPG it obtains will be eaten up by additional repair/maintenance costs, and then some. If I was still in the market for a new car, the iA wouldn't even be on my radar. I would look into an iM out of curiosity, but I greatly prefer the European Auris styling over the juvenile "Transformers" front styling they implemented for the iM. Agreed. I checked out Scion's version of the Toyota Auris and was really disappointed with the "juvenile" front and rear redesign. Too bad considering the bare bones Auris is such a nice car! I wish it had been introduced to the American market as a Corolla hatchback in basic L and LE trim.

Would NEVER consider either the iA or iM. Because of the route Yota has gone with their compact cars I will be leaving the segment if I buy another Yota unless it is the new SFR possibly.
