How to remove these Rubber Boots?

At least, get under them, in order to grease them up (had my wife go through the gears, and I've got squeaks all over the map). The ones circled in red below.

I have read the "squeaky clutch" thread, so thanks to all contributing there.

The boots themselves are pretty brittle right now, so I don't want to damage them if I can help it (I'm going to try to condition them with some 303 protectant tonight, and let that sink in).

Do I just pull them off/away from the actual pivot points, to get some lithium on the points themselves?

TIA...Eric
