Negative review of 2012 Yaris?

I read this on edmunds.com. Anyone else have any similar feelings?

"I've owned my 2012 Yaris almost one year and I regret having bought it. The only good thing I can say about it is the gas mileage (I average 33.5). The construction is shoddy. The front bumper is barely held onto the frame. There is no foam under the rear bumper. The front wheel wells are made of the thinnest, cheapest plastic I've ever seen used in this manner on a car. The car lacks sound dampening and the noise intrusion into the cabin at highway speeds is deafening. Not even the cheap stock stereo can drown out the noise. The steering wheel does not telescope, leading to a very uncomfortable seating position. Buy a 9th generation Corolla instead. Much better quality. Same MPG."

I've owned a 2012 Yaris for 6 months, I've owned a GTR for 16 months.
You get what you pay for.
They both serve their purpose!!

FYI, the 2013 Corolla can be had OTD for $20,000. The 2012-2013 Yaris still sells for $1000 more than the 2013 Corolla.

It almost seems as if the Yaris will be obsolete soon (replaced by a variation of the Mazda 2 that will be built in Mexico, but will have a Toyota badge. Remember the Geo Prizm/Corolla?).

Those are all issues that the poster should have caught during the test drive and showroom views. The construction/fit of the body and interior are all good and sturdy for the price point. And the noise is what it is. I like hearing my Yaris purr. It reminds me that I'm essentially driving an adult go-kart. As far as the Corolla, my sister's Corolla also has serious road noise, gets much less MPGs, and had a higher price. Some people are just difficult.

The price point seems to jockey around drastically depending on where you live/purchase between the Yaris and the Corolla. This has been a known fact since the Yaris launched in North America. I have heard several folks say they could get a Corolla for less or even money. In my area a base Corolla which imo isn't any better quality-wise as the Yaris really runs 3+k more than the Yaris S model.

I would pay extra not to drive a Corolla.. They are so bland, it's not even funny.

The JDM Corolla Axio is another story altogether. It's still dull, but cool in a way with more potential for personalization.

A louder exhaust takes care of the cabin noise issue.

I wasn't aware that the Yaris sold for more than the 2013 Corolla? What market?
