hood lift?

is there any other way to delete the prop rod than the Redline hood lift and hood pins? Is it possible to do a "home brew" hood lift kit? I just seen under my gpa's car('01 SS Monte Carlo) that is has two struts to lift the hood. I know that that hood is bigger/heavier than the ones on our cars but I'm kinda sick of puttin that darn prop rod up all the time. I search ad searched and couldn't really find anything that I was lookin for

some years back there was one member who "rolled his own" with some pretty standard parts, and using existing holes in the frame (redline kit needs you to drill and rivet some holes). It's out there somewhere, keep digging :D

I have that one, and I'm having those brackets made up so we can all have hood lift kits that don't require stupid rivets into your hood!

Garm, if you get a kit together and it's priced reasonable I'd be interested. My fiance's Sorento has spoiled me with her hydraulic hood lift.

Sorry I deleted the file with the part#'s in it. But you can get the parts from MSC online. I'll measure the gas shock extended length(30 lbs lift i think) then you need a bracket with ball stud like the one in my pic and a ball stud with threads to put in the shock tower. The only part that is really hard to find is the plastic joint with a slot in it that goes on the end of the gas shock that connects to the shock tower. But i think I have a few spares from the samples a company in the UK sent me.

Garm you let me know or heck all of us know. I knew that it was only a matter of time before you'd get in this thread

I would also be interested in a kit that doesn't require drilling or major modifications.

Does that include the sedan as well? They would be cool in colors to make the engine bay stand out more. I like it.

You might want to check out 1NZYaris1's DIY he did awhile back too...

@Garm> you can put me on the list as well! Save me time tracking down all the parts myself!
