Cool drum brake conversion to disc brake

Hi! I'm from Manila, Philippines. I would like to ask and question how this things can be possible done here in manila.

Speaking of MI, i really wanna order complete brake for my yaris (I saw in other thread) but it will cost me a lot :(

- Is the vios/ yaris sedan will match the rear disc brake on my yaris hatch?
i saw a lot in japan surplus here in manila. but i am afraid maybe there will be a problem.

- how about the ABS sensor? would still be intact on my yaris?

- you have any idead if i am getting a slotted rear disc, what things should i need?

I hope to hear from you soon guys!

Thank you very much.

More power to Yarisworld!

I helped enviri do a complete rear disc conversion on his Yaris liftback. He purchased a complete rear axle assembly with the brakes and ebrake cables attached from Japan off a Vitz RS. We did some comparisons of his existing axle and the RS one, and noticed that for the axle the only real difference was the metal plate at the end of the axle, which the hub bolts to. On the RS one the plate had an extra ear to bolt the rear caliper frame to, whereas the drum brake axle lacked that mounting point. So, to do the conversion with OEM rear disc brakes, you really need the rear axle as well.

As for the ABS, the sensors are pressed into the rear hub, so you would need a rear axle already setup for ABS (as the one that he purchased was).

Complete waste of money, as the rear brakes on a yaris have very little effect on braking performance.

^ if you want to proportion the brakes so the rears do more work, or because you do car shows and want the mod points, it's NOT a complete waste of money.

For you! it's not. For me it is! I was giving my opinion, not yours.

My opinion covers why anyone might want to do it. I run drum brakes in the back, just like you. My opinon therefore was NOT for me, as you state.

Yours was that it's a waste of money, period. Glad we are clear there.
