Depends in your area. Otherwise, the grade is written on the oil cover. Usually it is 5w30.

thx all for the suggestive replies ...

well .. adding a bit more info ... temperature where i am usually remains HOT .. around 30 to 38 degree Celsius on an average .. its a coastal area so humidity always remains high ... we do not have clear and carpet roads here and the traffic is messy as well ... so the car mostly runs on low gears ... average speed on road is around 20 to 30 KM/h

ive heared from a person that if the temperature is HOT and car runs on low gears then dont go for synthetic .. either go for semi synthetic or the conventional oil ... and also do use higher oil grade .. like 10w 40 or 20w 40

Ya full synthetic 5w30 or in ur case 5w40 ...Toyota has either regular or for extra syn oil but won't have 5w40 ...u see 5 means start up are both same but by going to 40 the oil will stay thicker at high temp so won't fin out think it would be ideal for ur application ..hot weather and stop and go traffic .

You wont have a problem with any synthetic 10w-30 product, your owners manual will probably explain in more specific detail.

oil grade should be written on the oil cap on the engine. Unless it has been changed for an aftermarket one..

Have you bothered to get a recommendation from Toyota Service Dept? Would be interesting to see what they say and compare it to advice that you're getting from people who don't live anywhere close to Pakistan.
