My Echo Exhaust Leak in Front ?

(i'm french) english not perfect.

Hi,

The 29 July 2017, i start the car in the morning and i noticed exhaust leak in front never noticed this before.

Is frequent problem on echo HB 2005 and yaris, platz ... exhaust leak in front ? 123 000km on it clean echo but sound crap since 29 july 2017 i don't know what is the cause, the car drive in quebec, rust problem? A little bit hit pedal gas and sound increase. A few shots of gas in neutral, and problem begins, small leak begin loud. The sound of the leak is more loud, after HWY ride Montreal-Quebec. 120-125 km h

i put brandnew back exhaust in 2016 for 500$, now the problem repeat in front.
gasket problem? headers ? exhaust under is not disconnected.

I can leave it like that?
Police ticket? Carbon monoxide? this leak disturbs the 1nz-fe?

sound like this

You obliviously have an exhaust leak at the front. The most common culprits would be the exhaust manifold gasket (#2), a crack in the exhaust manifold (#1), the manifold to mid pipe gasket (#6), and a hole somewhere in the mid pipe (#5). Take a look under the hood behind the engine to get a look at the exhaust manifold to see if the leak is there or further down the system. The exhaust manifold has a heat shield (#4) which you might want to take off to get a better look. If the leak is in the engine bay those fuses will eventually get into the cabin so I would get it fixed sooner rather than later. With a very loud exhaust you also run the risk of getting a ticket for that. Here's a diagram of the exhaust system on the 05 Echo HB:

Take the car to Monsieur Muffler for a free diagnosis. Then, decide what you want/need to do about the exhaust leak.

how do you go about finding a leak in the manifold/exhaust system? Is it like testing a gas or propane pipe for leaks (soap test) where you just put soap on the pipe and look for bubbles?

Smoke. A leak will blow the smoke away.

Or if lifted, you can just put your hand over joints and feel ai coming out.

I can't get myself to trust CT guys working on my car. Especially for oil changes.

Oh same for Walmart! Watching them refill the coolant tank hurts my heart.
