33% reduction in mileage?

I wanted to post some experience on here that could potentially help someone here. My previous car was a 5spd Scion xB, of course it was also 1nzfe powered. At around 50k miles my fuel mileage nose dived from 30-32 to 21-22. and it wasn't a fluke, it lasted for 6 months. I took a 6 hour trip to Dallas and 22 was all it would muster. I tried a tune up and it did nothing (btw if you haven't figured it out yet stay away from e3's). I had no check engine lights and no warnings signs, I mean the car was still running great. So I went to work for O'Reillys and one day we got to talking about the issue I was having. One of the guys suggested I try Seafoam. I used the throttle body cleaner that uses a curved nozzle to spray into the intake while its running and I put a bottle in the tank. Instantly it jumped back to 29mpg and averaged 27-28. for the next 2 years and 30k miles of ownership. I did add a can of Seafoam every other oil change. Also don't panic if you run Seafoam through the intake in this way and it looks like you blew a set of rings...lol this is normal. However you should have seen my face when I did this to mine without that little tid bit of knowledge.....lol PRICELESS!

Yup, I Seafoam my car once a year with my annual oil changes. lol. I think my engine has been cleaned to the point where the smoke that comes out is only the burning of the Seafoam itself. =)

First post about seafoam, I call

And there's no product on earth that will give you a 6 mpg boost.

So do you put the Seafoam in the gas tank or spray it into the intake?

Sure there are many products that can boost FE, if there is something wrong, and the product fixes it. Otherwise, you are quite correct.

I'd strongly suspect the math formula you are using to derive those low numbers. And if they are in fact in the low 20's Seafoam while somewhat beneficial aint going to fix the problem of you getting half the mpg you are supposed to be getting....
Hows the mpg in your 2012 Yaris LE 4dr?

so have you changed your transmission fluid? That really hits gas mileage, and hit me at about 55k.
